I was born in Oxnard, CA into a tumultuous start and eventually ended up in the foster care system. Luck was on my side, and I was adopted around five years old.
Even as a kid, art was my way of understanding who I am. Places like Borders’ art and music section and my local music store became small sanctuaries where I could expand my imagination.
Everything shifted when I saw and heard Daft Punk’s “One More Time.” I remember feeling genuinely baffled by it. It was fun, it was cool, and it made you feel something. I wanted more of that.
I started digging for inspiration anywhere I could find it. My uncle’s disco collection, 80s and 90s movie soundtracks like The Wedding Singer, artists like The Smiths, New Order, and David Bowie on repeat.
At sixteen, I got a Mac laptop and an acoustic guitar and started exploring sound through GarageBand, learning how to combine different elements and build my own arrangements. Things started to click when I met local musician Nic Hessler, who helped me better understand the sound I had been searching for.
From there, I picked up electric guitar and bass and began programming drums and keys. My ideas started to sound like actual songs, and that is when I grabbed a mic.
By 21, I was writing consistently every month and realized I had a natural pull toward lyrics, songwriting, and production.
Since my first album in 2016, Now & Then Clubhouse, I have released two more full length albums and four EPs, all completely independent, down to the album art.
I still have more to say.
I plan to keep releasing music until I cannot write anymore.
